A robust, usable phonetogram
Map speech and maximum vocal range in real time. The phonetogram plots measured frequency against measured sound level in bins, and result files can be saved, exported and reopened in the app.
About the phonetogramVocal Spector brings the phonetogram, perceptual assessment, patient and file management, and powerful analysis tools into a single application. Built by speech-language pathologists and signal processing researchers.
Calibrated recording with real-time level metering. Segment a recording to analyse individual utterances.
Acoustic analysis and perceptual assessment in the same session, without switching tools.
Compare assessments and recordings across two visits, perceptually and acoustically.

About the phonetogram
Fundamental frequency, HNR, CPP, jitter and shimmer, formants, spectral centroid, spectral tilt, crest factor and speech rate — computed both live and over the whole recording.
Every measure
Calibrate with a sound calibrator or a sound level meter for reproducible levels in dB SPL to IEC 61672-1:2013. The app works without calibration too, reporting dBFS instead.
About calibrationAll recording and analysis happens locally. The app contacts our servers only for licensing and updates — never with audio or patient data.
How we handle dataThe app makes two kinds of network call: a licence check and an update check. Recordings and analysis results live in the file system on your own machine and are never sent anywhere. Encryption at rest can be added if your organisation requires it.
More about privacyNo, not today. We intend to license under MDR, but we have prioritised the quality of the acoustic analysis and the experience of using the application first.
Not automatically. Assessment forms and acoustic results can be exported as JSON or copied to the clipboard, and uploaded to the journal system by hand. Automatic integration is something we are working towards.
Yes. A licence has a one-month offline grace period before it needs to check in with our servers again.
We recommend a sound card and a microphone with flat sensitivity within ±3 dB. Calibrated sound levels need a sound calibrator or a sound level meter. Without them the app still works, but reports dBFS rather than dB SPL.
There is no public demo, but we are happy to walk through the app with you. Get in touch and we will arrange it.
